We named and designed the identity and exhibition for Singapore-born photographer ND Chow. Presented in March 2020 at Panasonic Lumix Gallery in Ginza, Tokyo, the exhibition brought his photographs into a playful spatial experience.
POKÉ takes its name from the Hawaiian dish, while CHOW plays on the photographer’s surname and the informal English word for food. The exhibition featured a new series of photographs of Japanese celebrity Haruka Ayase, shot in Hawaii the previous spring.
The exhibition was deliberately light-hearted and experiential, showing a side of Ayase Haruka not often seen. Oversized floats, quirky stickers and bold typography extended the humour of the photographs into the space. “Take only photographs, leave only footprints” became a fitting way to frame the experience: playful, temporary and made to be remembered.
