Growing up, Playmobil had a far greater influence on me than Lego or any other plaything. Over the years, I collected countless figures and vehicles — and eventually, these oversized ones. To me, they’ve always represented everyday people: familiar, unassuming, and often nameless.

While wrestling with ideas (and budgets) for our exhibition mascot, I glanced over at these three who’ve quietly kept me company day in and day out. Not just any Tom, Dick,or Harry — meet Fireman Tom, who keeps the fire in our bellies from burning out of control; Medic Fanny, our ever-vigilant safety officer; and young Dick, who simply wants to play.

They’ve served their time at the studio, and now it’s time for them to find new homes.

Available for adoption online or afterthe exhibition.
